How to get rid of spiders?

To get a pest problem under control, inspection is the first and foremost step.

The American house Spider, or common house spider, lives in close proximity to humans. Aggressive behavior is out of character for these spiders, however, their bites do contain venom. Medical attention is not usually required for this type of spider bite, as it’s no more painful as a bee sting, and it may be treated at home in a similar fashion.

They’re often found in secluded areas: corners, loose walls, behind open doors, and windows in areas of your home not used as frequently (like the attic). They feed on household pests such as wasps, mosquitos, ants, and flies. Depending on the size of the American house spider, they may also eat grasshoppers, butterflies, cockroaches, or other spiders. However, they are also prey to larger spiders.

The common house spider can live up to one year. When it reproduces, it lays anywhere from 100 to 400 eggs per egg sack. A female produces up to 17 egg sacks and the hatchlings usually remain in the mother’s web for several days.
